What draws you to the field of physical education?
I have enjoyed being active and an athlete nearly all of my life and wanted to share my knowledge of a healthy lifestyle with others.
Who are your favorite courses to teach?
Golf, racquetball because I get to me the most active in those classes. Most of all I enjoy coaching volleyball.
How does your background and educational experience shape your teaching at Hesston?
I have had the opportunity to observe teaching and coaching styles in many areas at many different levels and I enjoy applying what I have learned to my programs.
What do you most want to know about prospective students?
What type of college are you looking for? What are your expectations of an institution?
How do you connect with students in the program?
I enjoy sharing real life situations or stories that tie into the material I am teaching. Students learn by example and if I can give them many examples that they can relate to, they will take more with them in their life.
What do high school students need to know about Hesston's learning environment?
We as teachers and coaches are here to make this the best experience for you that we possibly can. Our doors are always open to you and we want you to excel. The one on one opportunity to learn assists greatly in that respect.
What do students do after Hesston?
Some of our volleyball players continue to play collegiate volleyball after Hesston. I help those who want to continue playing find a place to play. Many have gone on to other Mennonite institutions, some have received offers to NAIA or NCAA schools and turned them down after deciding to focus on their area of study. Those that want to play do.
