Faculty

Professor Dwight Roth lecturing to classThe most common thing you’ll find in the faculty at Hesston is that there’s nothing common about them at all. They come from all over. They bring huge array of experiences, perspectives, and backgrounds into the classroom. And they’re widely recognized as experts in their particular fields.

Our professors are much more concerned with what you learn as opposed to what they teach. Yes, it sounds confusing, but there is a difference. Big lectures rely more on the critical thinking skills of the person doing the talking (the professor) than the ones doing the listening (the students). That’s why we’re not into big lectures here.

Our professors will find different places and ways to engage you, to activate you, to let you do some of the talking—resulting in an environment truly focused on your learning experience.

Tony Brown teaches

"The thing I love about this place is that I get to intersect with my students' lives in so many ways. In the classroom, on the sidewalk, when they invite me to one of their activities or events, or just hanging out somewhere watching TV and talking about things they're interested in. That means so much to them, and to me."
