The three-year nursing curriculum prepares entry-level nurses for provision of direct client care in acute and extended care facilities. The graduate is eligible to apply for the NCLEX-RN (licensing examination) to become licensed as a Registered Nurse.
Applicants choosing the three-year curriculum typically complete general education and supporting courses during the first year of the program. Nursing coursework occurs during the second and third years. No prerequisite courses are necessary for entering the three-year plan. The same requirements exist for graduation. However, the courses are spread over a longer time period. This plan is a good choice for students desiring a more manageable academic load each semester, as well as more opportunities for extracurricular activities, employment, and/or family responsibilities.
