Sunday, May 14 – This morning we will participate in a baptismal service at the Doopsgezinde Kerk in Haarlem. We then bid our hosts goodbye and head south to our hosts for the next two evenings, the Mennonite congregation in Ouddorp, Netherlands. Evening concert.
 

Monday, May 15 – Today is more relaxed, with a tour of the “water works” that help control the sea from flooding the area. Homestays in Ouddorp.

Tuesday, May 16 – Today we make our way to Friesland across the long “Afsluitdijk.” We will visit the area where Menno Simons was born and the small hidden church in the village of Pingjum where he was first a priest. Concert tonight in Joure.

Wednesday, May 17 – Day free with hosts, perhaps biking around the area!

During our free afternoon in Joure the choir went farmer golfing out in the coutryside. We were all required to put on blue coveralls boots and red bandanas.

Here Jake and Ken model our great outfits. Farmer golf consisted of hitting a little soccer ball with a wooden shoe on the end of a stick. There were eight holes covering a large amount of area.

Thursday, May 18 – Today we head into Germany, but not before we visit the Kroller-Muller Museum to see many original Van Gogh paintings. Arrival in Cologne by mid-afternoon, home to Germany’s largest gothic cathedral.

Friday, May 19 – This morning we will be doing projects in and around the cathedral, then free time to explore the city.

We had a day to wonder around Köln (Cologne). Some of us tooke the opurtunity to climb to the top of the Cathedral. This is the view of the Rhine.

We took a tour of the ancient sewers left from when Rome was in control of the city.

The relic of the Three magi. It is believed that the remains of the three magi are in this. At one point in the 70's it was stolen from its current position.

Saturday, May 20 – Today we will visit the Romanesque Abbey of Maria Laach. Tonight we will be in host families in the town of Haiger, hosted by an Evangelical church that will probably feel more similar to your home congregations as any on the tour. Concert in Haiger.
