Course Description
- Oral Communication:
- to raise the level of oral proficiency in order to be able:
- to create with the target language
- to develop functional, communicative language ability
- Linguistic skills:
- to strengthen command of spoken and written Spanish in order:
- to express oneself accurately using the basic structures learned in Elementary Spanish
- to narrate past, present, and future events using the preterite, imperfect, and compound past tenses
- Culture:
- to develop appreciation of the interconnectedness of language and culture
- Literature:
- to appreciate Spanish literary works and to improve reading skills
Format
Language learning is an active process; therefore, the largest portion
of class time will be devoted to activities which will provide opportunities
to listen to and to use Spanish interactions with the instructor and
classmates. New vocabulary, grammar and cultural perspectives,
including but not limited to information in the textbook, will be introduced
during class.
