Additional PPT Tips for Introduction to Computers

Adding non text objects

Adding non text can be done by choosing non text layout, using the using
the options under Insert or by clicking on the option icon on the
drawing toolbar. Non text options to add include:

clipart
-
picture image from file
-
chart or graph
-
diagram or organizational chart
-
table
-
media clip
Choose the option you want and then select your image/media item you want
to add. For the charts, diagrams or table options, select the template
you want and then modify as desired.

To grab an image off the web:
-
While your cursor is on top of the image you want, do a "Right Click" and
then choose the option
"Save Image As" and save it someplace. Then in PPT, do
the option of inserting a picture from file.

Editing Images
The editing tools are nice when you want to with images, you
want to "improve". To work on an image:
-
First, you need to click on the image to select it.

To Resize an image, click on it to select it and drag any of the corner
markers in or out to resize in while keeping its original proportions.

Click on the image to select it. Do a right click to choose the option
Show
Picture Toolbar and then click on the picture tool you want to use.
Lighten, darken, color, crop as desired

To Crop an image:
-
Click on the image to select it
-
Click the Crop button.

Position the cursor over a handle and pushi it in, eliminating the undesired
portion of the image.

Click the Crop button to turn it off.
Grouping and Ungrouping Objects
If you group several images (or any objects) together, you can easily
move, resize, rotate all the images together
• Do a "hold shift click" to select all the objects
• Do a right click, select grouping and then choose the Group option.
Do the same toUngroup them.
Making a Black slide (or one of any other color)

From the menu choose, Format, Background

In the option box under the sample backgound fill, click the arrow option,
and then choose More colors to get to an option for black.
You will generally want to choose the option of Omit background graphics
from master. You can also choose other colors as well as different
options under Fill Effects to create you own background
Scanning Photos
The default image format for scanners is often .bmp files which are
very big. Save them as .jpg and the picture qualith will be OK and
much smaller.
