Clay is from Beaver Crossing, Neb. He received his associate of arts degree from Hesston College in 1999. He received his bachelor's degree in health/physical education teaching with an emphasis in athletic training from Tabor College (Hillsboro, Kan.) in 2002. Clay has helped cover the National Junior College Women's Basketball Tournament in 2005 and 2006 and the United States Basketball League (USBL) Tournament in 2005. Prior to becoming head athletic trainer at Hesston College, Clay served as head athletic trainer at Bethany College, Lindsborg, Kan., for two years. He is working on his master's degree from Fort Hays State University (Hays, Kan.) in health and human performance.
