More than 500 alumni and friends of Hesston College are expected to attend A Hesston College Homecoming September 22-24.
Friday activities include morning class visits by prospective students, a chapel address by 1990 graduate and nationally-known vocal performer Dan Gardner, an afternoon Disaster Management program update and reception, an art exhibit by Dr. John Cody, and evening tailgate picnic and festival activities.
Also starting Friday is the eight-team Hesston Invitational Volleyball Tournament, which runs through Saturday.
Highlights Saturday include class reunions, an auction of various candlehouses, afternoon baseball and softball games, an evening soccer game, and an evening alumni banquet, followed by the Dan Gardner Gala Concert that also features the Hesston College Bel Canto Singers, the Hesston High School Singers, the Goessel High School Elbiata Singers, and the Haven High School Wildcat Singers.
At 10:30 p.m., Hesston College centennial history writer and history instructor John Sharp will host an informal time of sharing stories about the college (and Hesston Academy).
The homecoming weekend ends Sunday with a morning worship service featuring a message by 1986 and 1987 graduates Mark and Wendy (Wyse) Miller, pastors at Whitestone Mennonite Church in Hesston, and a short performance by a choir of alumni and the college's Bel Canto Singers.
