The freshman class at Hesston
College this fall is the largest in 16 years.
Clark Roth, vice president for Admissions, reported that when classes
started Monday, August 22, 264 freshmen, including 23 new international
students, had enrolled at the college.
Roth said one of the goals for
the Admissions department in the past five-to-ten years has been to
stabilize enrollment. "We've accomplished that now. Enrollment
has become stable in the past five years. Now we can focus on increasing
enrollment even more.
"In addition, I feel good
about the fact that we are the college of choice for an increasing
number of students," Roth continued. "I think that's attributable
to a strong faculty and staff, and the educational experience offered
at Hesston.
"I'm obviously excited that
more and more students will have The Hesston Experience," Roth
said. "It will be life-changing for them."
According to Roth, the enrollment
increase also includes an increase in North American diversity. "We
already have amazing geographic diversity, with students from 30 states
and 15 countries. The increase in ethnic diversity among our North
American students -- now 12 percent of our student population -- adds
to the richness of the campus community."
