Hesston College students enrolled
in fall semester classes will converge on campus during Opening Weekend
August 19-21.
Resident assistants for the dorms
arrive Thursday, August 11, for a weekend orientation and retreat.
Then soccer and volleyball players, along with aviation students and
members of the Bel Canto Singers, come to campus Monday, August 15.
Registration for new and returning off-campus students begins Thursday
afternoon, August 18.
Most new and returning students
will move into their dorm rooms, register for classes, and attend
orientation sessions Friday and Saturday, August 19 and 20.
Opening Weekend activities include
a convocation Friday, August 19, 7:30 p.m. at Hesston Mennonite Church.
The evening will include presentations by psychology faculty member
Dan Harrison and nursing faculty member Sondra Leatherman. Bel Canto
Singers directed by Jake Rittenhouse and accompanied by Ken Rodgers
will also be featured.
The Parent Council will host a
parents breakfast Saturday morning. The day's festivities also include
a soccer intrasquad game at 7:30 p.m., and a farewell concert by Thirstborne
at 9 p.m. in Yost Center.
Sunday events will include a 9
a.m. morning worship service at Yost Center. The speaker will be new
President Howard Keim, who began serving as president June 20. Other
Sunday activities include a picnic for faculty, staff, and students
from 5:45-6:30 p.m., and the annual Mod Olympics at 7 p.m.
