Jeanne Billings appointed registrar
Jeanne Billings

April 7, 2008

Hesston College Academic Dean Sandra Zerger has announced the appointment of Jeanne Billings, Hesston, Kan., as college registrar.
Billings has been a staff member at the college since 2001, working as an administrative assistant and as an ACCESS lab supervisor. The ACCESS lab is a student-support center for academics. She also serves as assistant softball coach this spring.
Billings is excited about the new challenge. “The position of registrar entails accuracy of the utmost importance for students’ records, as well as interaction with faculty, staff, students, and administration,” she said. “The opportunity to maintain the high standards which this office has held is a top priority for me.
“Hesston College has nurtured both my spiritual and intellectual growth,” Billings said. “It has provided me the resources to further my educational endeavors, as well as providing an environment of positive daily interaction with the campus community.”
In December 2007, Billings completed a bachelor’s degree in sociology from Fort Hays State University, Hays, Kan. She continues her studies at that university, working on a master’s degree with an emphasis on educational leadership and instruction.
Zerger said she was pleased Billings accepted the position. “Jeanne's experience working with faculty and with students provides her with an understanding of the inner workings of Hesston College,” she said. “She is committed to living the mission of the college.
“Jeanne has a curiosity to learn that is infectious to those around her,” Zerger said. “She has organizational skills and is known as a ‘go to’ person to get tasks completed.”
Previous to her positions at Hesston College, Billings started her own company, Gourmet Chocolate, Inc., owned three TCBY Frozen Yogurt franchise stores, and was the general secretary for Farm Credit Banks of Wichita. She also owned and operated Emma Creek Bed and Breakfast from 2002 to 2005.
“Her many experiences both at the college and in the business world position her well for the many details and interactions with people that a registrar does routinely,” Zerger said.
Billings will replace Gerry Selzer, whose resignation as registrar takes effect June 30, 2008, after serving 14 years in the position.
