Hesston College men's basketball coach Tim Swartzendruber has announced that Carlton Dean, a 6'2" shooting guard from Edmond, Okla., has signed a letter of intent to play basketball for the Larks beginning with the 2007-08 season.
Dean played at Santa Fe High School in Edmond, a high school with around 2,000 students. The school has an impressive athletic tradition, especially boys basketball. At the end of the 2005-06 season, all five members from the boy's basketball team signed letters of intent with NCAA Division I programs.
Last season, Dean led his team to a 14-11 record. He averaged 4.6 points, 1.4 assists, and 1.3 steals per game.
"Carlton is an extremely gifted athlete and should be able to make an immediate impact on our team next year," Swartzendruber said. "He comes from a strong basketball program and has been highly recommended to us. We are excited to have him join us at Hesston College."
The Hesston College men's basketball team competes in Division II of the National Junior College Athletic Association.
Located in south central Kansas, Hesston College is the two-year liberal arts college owned by Mennonite Church USA.
