Three Hesston College women's basketball players have received post-season honors in Region VI, Division II, National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA).
Roxanne Stauffer, a 5'10" freshman from Beaver Crossing, Neb., was named to the All-Region First Team. Meanwhile, sophomores 5'7" Tana Nelsen from Dorchester, Neb., and 5'11" Brittany Roth from Milford, Neb., were selected to the All-Region Second Team.
Coach Joel Kauffman said Stauffer was the team's leading scorer this year, averaging 12.1 points per game. "She had a nice freshmen season for us," he said. "She shot 33 percent from the three-point line and 74 percent from the free throw line. She is a multi-tooled player and I'm looking forward to her sophomore season."
"Tana Nelsen played out of position for us for much of the season because of all the injuries we had," Kauffman noted. "Because of that, she didn't put up the kind of numbers she could have until late in the season.
Over the last seven games, Nelsen averaged over 16 points per game. On the season, she averaged 9.4 points per game and shot 50 percent from the three-point line, which is a new school record.
Meanwhile, Brittany Roth was the team's second-leading scorer at 9.7 points per game, while leading the Larks with 6.4 rebounds per game. "Brittany also shot 71 percent from the free throw line," Kauffman said, "and went 18-19 from the line in a win against Cottey College after Christmas."
The team finished the season with an 18-11 record.
