Two Larks basketball players receive pre-season national recognition

      Two Hesston College basketball players were recently named to the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division II pre-season All-American list.
      Sophomore Roxanne Stauffer, Beaver Crossing, Neb., was named to the women’s second team, while sophomore LaMont Russell, Wichita, Kan., was named to the men’s third team.
      Stauffer, a guard on the Larks women’s team, received first team all-region (Region 6) and third team All-American honors at the end of last season. She averaged 12.1 points and 3.8 rebounds per game last year while shooting 34 percent from the three-point line.
      LaMont Russell also received post-season recognition with his selection to the 2006-07 NJCAA men’s basketball all-region (Region 6) second team. Russell averaged 13.5 points and 9 rebounds per game last season for the Larks men’s basketball squad.
      The first home game for Hesston College men’s and women’s basketball is this Thursday night, November 8, against Tabor College Junior Varsity. The women play at 6 p.m., followed by the men’s game at 8 p.m.
