Volunteer Opportunities - Special Events, on and off campus
- Assist during special events on campus
- Several special events occur during the year that involve large groups of people.
Some are primarily for faculty, staff, and/or students; others involve community persons.
The ones that generally occur at about the same time each year include Opening Weekend
in mid August; the Anabaptist Vision and Discipleship Series in late October; Thanksgiving
weekend in late November; the Feast of Carols in early December.
Services needed include setting tables; waiting
on tables; supervising student waiters; ushering and collecting offerings; assisting with
registration; clean up; monitoring book tables; organizing and supervising break times;
and general errand duty.
- Assist with Spring Break or weekend service opportunities off campus
- This involves accompanying a student group and one or more college staff persons
for a week-long or weekend service/learning/mission experience off campus. The Spring
Break trip occurs in mid-March; weekend trips can occur any time. Participants need to
be in good health and have some basic leadership skills and ability to relate to young
adults; general maintenance skills are helpful. Participants need to submit to a background
check and abide by the Hesston College Lifestyle Standards. They will assist with projects
and group dynamics under the direction of a Hesston College staff person.
