Overtime goal nets first win of the year for Larks

Hesston College freshman midfielder Marly Richison (Houston, Mo.) found the back of the net four minutes into the overtime period on Thursday night, giving the Larks a 1-0 win over Allen County Community College (Iola, Kan.).

The Larks outshot Allen County 7-3 on the night, with Jessica Davis (Newton, Kan.) and Amber Repp (Vally Center, Kan.) each collecting two shots-on-goal. Lark keeper Emily Toews (Whitewater, Kan.) recorded the shutout win in goal for Hesston.

“What a good feeling to finally get a win,” said coach Kurt Hostetler. “The girls have been improved their play in each of the past five games and they deserve this victory. They knew they could win and battled hard to prove it.”

Up next for the Larks is a fall break trip to Texas, where Hesston will take on Ranger (Texas) College at 1 p.m. on Saturday, October 17, and then a 1 p.m. match versus Western Texas College (Snyder) the following day.
