Larks fly into playoffs following 4-1 win

The Hesston College women’s soccer team notched a huge 4-1 win over Northwest Kansas Technical College (Goodland, Kan.) on Thursday, Oct. 17, improving its season record to 6-10-2. The win insures Hesston’s spot in the Region VI playoffs.

The teams traded penalty kick goals in the early going, with Myu Kobayashi (Yokosuka Kanagawa, Japan) scoring for Hesston. In the 53rd minute Dusti Diener (Harrisonville, Mo.) gave the Larks the lead on an assist by Savannah Sizer (Highlands Ranch, Colo.).

Midway through the second half Jasmin Yoder (Sweet Home, Ore.) found the back of the net (assisted by Carley Wyse, Archbold, Ohio) to widen the Larks lead, and in the 85th minute Rachel Short-Miller (Bellingham, Wash.) put the win on ice on as assist by Jessica Donnelly (Greshman, Ore.)

Hesston held a sizable 23-4 advantage in shots on goal and a 4-0 edge in corner kicks.
