Late goal dooms Larks

The Hesston College women’s soccer team suffered a 1-0 setback against Independence (Kan.) CC on Saturday, Sept. 24, putting its season record at 6-4.

The teams were seemingly headed for overtime when Independece broke through with a late goal in the 77th minute to break the scoreless tie. In the final seconds Hesston had a chance to tie the game, getting off a shot that sailed wide right.

Both teams had four shots on goal, while Hesston held a 6-1 advantage in corner kicks.

Hesston travels to Cloud County CC, Concordia, Kan., on Tuesday, Sept 27 for a key Region VI matchup at 2 p.m. as the Larks continue their quest for a playoff bid.
