Bulldogs no match for Lark women

Hunger Begley brings the ball up the court for Hesston College women's basketball.

The Hesston College women’s hoops team earned a win last night over the Bulldogs of McPherson College, 84-62. The game started a little sloppy for both teams but the Hesston plugged away, methodically building their lead and maintaining their perfect home record early in the 2017-18 season.

The starting five had a nice night on the score sheet with all in double digits. Connor Atkinson led the scoring with 22 and Essence Tolson had another double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds. Hunter Begley and Kara Horton each scored 11 points and Carissa Slabach chipped in 10 of her own.

“I was pleased with our balanced scoring with five players in double figures,” said Head Coach Jeff Jacobs, “but we need to shore up our defense to consistently win.”

The Larks will be back in action Wednesday night at Butler Community College (El Dorado) and then home against Southwest Community College on Saturday at 1 p.m.
