Tennis coach named to lead Larks

James Komakech

Hesston College Athletic Director, Rob Ramseyer, has announced the appointment of James Komakech as the new men’s and women’s tennis coach.

Komakech, who hails from Uganda, has worked as a teaching pro at Genesis Health Club in Wichita for the last 15 years. He is also active with the National Junior Tennis League in Wichita, which provides tennis and education to under-resourced youth and individuals with disabilities.

Komakech played collegiate tennis at Barton County Community College (Great Bend, Kan.) and Bethany College (Lindsborg, Kan.). Prior to coming to the United States, he was a member of the Ugandan Davis Cup team, and he represented his country twice at the All African Games.

“I am excited to welcome James as our tennis coach,” said Ramseyer. “His care for each student-athlete he coaches and vast tennis experience positions him well to lead our program.”
