The Hesston College men’s tennis team showed well on Thursday afternoon; defeating the visiting Central Christian (Kan.) College Cougars 8-1 at Hesston College.
Freshman #1 singles player Nadeem Jaber (Jaljulia, Israel) got past C. Padilla 6-4, 7-5. Sophomore Riley Kingsley (North Newton, Kan.) won comfortably over G. Martin Chavez, 6-2, 6-0. Hesston’s Garrett Roth (Hesston, Kan.) won 6-0, 6-3. Tre Kremeier (Newton, Kan.) didn’t drop a set, winning 6-0, 6-0, before freshman Jeff Kauffman (Hutchinson, Kan.) added another win: 6-2, 6-2 for Hesston College.
The Larks swept the doubles action as Kingsley/Roth, Jaber/Borst and Kauffman/Kremeier all won. C. Padilla notched Central Christian’s only win, outlasting the Larks’ Josiah Borst (Becker, Minn.) 6-2, 7-5.
“We got an important win as we head into the latter part of our season. We look to finish strong with three matches left and then we look to continue the run to nationals in a couple weeks,&rdquo Head coach Chance Joost commented following the team’s win.
Next – men’s tennis (4-10) will host Cowley College on Monday, April 10, at 11 a.m.
