Sowers leads golfers in Myrtle Beach

2017 Hesston College Men's Golf Team

The Hesston College men’s golf team competed in a triple header duel over spring break in Myrtle Beach, S.C., performing well despite tough conditions.

The Larks took on Hobart College (Geneva, N.Y.) and Dickinson College (Carlisle, Pa.), both NCAA Division III schools. Freshman Sam Sowers (Cummings, Kan.) took first in the competition while freshman Ryan Vernon (Centralia, Kan.) finished fourth, and freshman Chandler Roberts (Kyle, Texas) placed sixth overall.

“They played in 20- to 40-mile-per-hour winds with a windchill that never got above 35 degrees,” said coach Chris Frantz. “I am very happy with the results based on the conditions they played in.”

Next Up: The golf team will travel north to Salina for the Kansas Wesleyan University Spring Invitational. The Larks will tee off on Monday, March 27 at Salina Country Club and finish on Tuesday, March 28.
