Hesston College Golf freshman Chandler Roberts (Kyle, Texas) opened up his collegiate career in style shooting a five-under par 66 for a tournament low, pacing the way for the Larks to knock off the Central Christian College Tigers. Hesston’s team score of 301 was 16 strokes better than Central’s 317. The Tigers sent a second team of five, which finished with 338.

Fellow Lark freshman Corey Chalupa (Fort Worth, Texas) took second with a 73. Freshman Ryan Vernon (Centralia, Kan) finished with a 76 to place three Larks in the top 5. “It was a pretty good day all around,” Head Coach Chris Frantz said. Collin Duckworth shot a low of 75 for the Tigers’ top performance.

Golf will have a few weeks off before heading to Springfield, Mo., March 10 and 11 for the Evangel University Spring Invitational at Rivercut Golf Course. The Larks will continue on east and spend spring break in Myrtle Beach, S.C. March 13 through 17.
