Larks take down seventh-ranked Johnson County in OT

The Hesston College men’s basketball team continued its late season surge with a thrilling 100-93 overtime win at seventh-ranked Johnson County CC (Overland Park, Kan.).

Aubrey Johnson (Mustang, Okla.) scored a game-high 33 points off the bench to lead the way. Johnson connected on an impressive 9-of-12 from beyond the arc. Jake Hansen (Effingham, Kan.) scored 20 and Ty Jordan (Houston, Texas) added 15 points and seven assists. Jontray Harris (Austin, Texas) contributed 14 points and eight boards off the bench.

The Larks’ bench outscored JC reserves 59-8. Hesston outrebounded the Cavaliers 41-38. For the game, Hesston shot a scorching 48.6 percent (18-of-37) from three-point range.

The effort gives Hesston a three-game winning streak heading into Region VI postseason play, a 3 p.m. matchup at Brown Mackie College (Salina, Kan.).
