The Hesston College men’s tennis team dropped a home match to Southwestern Christian University (Bethany, Okla.) 7-2 on Tuesday, April 15.

The men built early leads in two of the three doubles matches but were unable to close out wins. Freshman Eric Cender (one singles – Valparaiso, Ind.) and sophomore Tyler Roth (six singles – Canby, Ore.) each took their opening set in singles, but then dropped their matches in 3rd set super tie-breakers 10–12 and 8–10 respectively. Sophomores Kendrik Mast (five singles – Harrisonburg, Va.) and Dominic Murray (four singles – Denver) each won their singles matches giving the Larks two match wins. Mast won in straight sets 6–0, 6–3 and Murray was leading in the first set 4–3 when his opponent retired due to an injury.

Hesston men and women travel to Baker University (Baldwin City, Kan.) for a 4 p.m. match on Thursday, April 17.
