Hesston Baseball earns 20th win following Bethany College JV sweep

The Hesston College baseball team swept a double header from Bethany College JV (Lindsborg, Kan.) on Sunday, April 12, moving its season record to 20-15.

In the opener, a five-run fifth put the Larks on top after falling behind early. Hesston won 12-8 behind a 3-for-4 effort by Corey Fowler (Boone, Iowa), who tripled and scored four runs. Pete Whitmer (London, Ohio) added three hits and four RBI. Nick Yoder (Millersburg, Ohio) went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and one knocked in. Robert Ortega (Riverside, Calif.) got the win in relief.

In game two, Josh Hibbard (Munford, Tenn.) set the tone early for the Larks, tossing four shutout innings before surrending a four-run fifth. Hibbard struck out six in the 12-5 win. Jib Carson (Macon, Ill.) pitched two shutout innings with three strikeouts for the save.

Yoder, Scott Cooper (Sand Springs, Okla.), Stephon Griddine (Grandview, Mo.) and Cory Kerbs (Nevada, Mo.) had two hits and two RBI each.
