The Hesston College softball team won three of its four games on a recent weekend trip to Neosho County CC (Chanute, Kan.) and Allen CC (Iola, Kan.), improving its season record to 6-10.
On Friday, March 21, the Larks defeated Neosho by a 6-5 score in game one of the Region VI matchup. The Panthers came back to take game two 9-3.
Kasee Tully (McPherson, Kan.) went 3-for-4 with two runs scored in the game one win. Makenna Grow (Logan, Utah.) added two hits and Lea Daniels (Johnson, Kan.) knocked in a pair or runs. Cheyenne Cherubini (Flint, Mich.) tossed a complete game to get the win.
Victoria Cortez (Moreno Valley, Calif.) went 2-for-3 with two doubles in the game two loss. Tihani Palomares (Mililani, Hawaii) had three hits.
On Saturday, March 22, the Larks’ offense carried the team to a sweep (10-1, 15-4) of Allen CC. Tully, Grow, Daniels and Tessa Sorensen, (Millville, Utah.) had multi-hit games in the opener, while Cherubini earned the pitching win.
In game two, Tully and Whitney Bilbao (Elko, Nev.) had four hits each, while Grow went 3-for-4 with a home run. Daniels, Cortez and Taylor Wright (Salem, Ore.) had two hits each. Cortez had four RBI. Megan Redd (Castle Rock, Colo.) picked up the pitching win.
