Larks move to 12-10 with double header sweep

The Hesston College baseball team breezed past York (Neb.) College JV for a double header sweep on Saturday, March 22, improving its season record to 12-10.

The Larks won 12-1 in five innings in game one, powered by Scott Cooper’s (Sand Springs, Okla.) 4-for-4 day. Zac Pearson added three hits and three runs scored. Jarret Wolf (Sand Springs, Okla.), Cory Kerbs (Nevada, Mo.) and Nick Mitchell (Wichita, Kan.) had two hits each.

Brandon Kutrubs (Brunswick, Ohio) tossed four innings of work allowing three hits and one run while fanning eight to pick up the win.

In the second game the Hesston offense pounded out 14 runs on 16 hits for a 14-4 six-inning win. Corey Fowler (Boone, Iowa), Alex Leff (Wichita, Kan.), Kerbs, Lucas Garces (Santo, Domingo, DR) and Jesse Norrid (Tulsa, Okla.) each had multiple runs knocked in.

Dustin King (Wichita, Kan.) picked up the complete-game win, allowing just two earned runs and no walks.

Hesston plays at Bethany College JV (Lindsborg, Kan.) at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, March 25.
