The Hesston College baseball team split a doubleheader on Saturday, Feb. 22, losing 3-1 in the opener before rebounding for a 3-1 win in the nightcap. 

In the game two win, righthander Mangin Chacon (Harlingen, Texas) went the distance allowing one earned run on eight hits. Chacon walked just one with four punchouts. Scott Cooper (Sand Springs, Okla.) scored two of Hesston’s runs.

Freshman hurler Pete Whitmer (London, Ohio) threw a complete game in the game one loss. 

Now 4-4, Hesston hosts Redlands CC (El Reno, Okla.) at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 26.
