Hesston College softball coach Andrew Sharp announces Jenn Callais, a third baseman/catcher from Paloma Valley High School, Menifee, Calif., and Dakoda Lee, a pitcher/infielder from Mountain View High School, Boise, Idaho, as the first members of the Larks 2014 recruiting class.
A 2013 All-Sunbelt League selection and Coaches Award recipient, Callais his .353 and helped Paloma Valley to a second-place league finish. She was an important part of the 2012 league-champion PVHS team. Callais plays travel ball for the San Diego Power Surge, coached by Ale Jordan.
“Adding Jenn to the Hesston College community is a great way to kick off this recruiting class,” Sharp said. “She’ll play a major role on our team from the day she steps on campus. I’m confident her contributions at Hesston will extend far beyond the softball diamond.”
Callais attends Living Hope Faith Center, Temecula, Calif., and is active as singer and greeter there. A Hesston College Dean’s Scholarship recipient, Callais will study athletic training. She is the daughter of Irving and Anabel Echavarria, Menifee.
Lee, a pitcher/infielder from Mountain View High School, Boise, Idaho, posted a 2.60 ERA while garnering all-5A Southern Idaho Conference honorable mention recognition her junior year. She hit .429 with three homeruns and 38 runs batted in 2013.
“Koda brings a lot of talent and heart to our roster,” Sharp said. “I’m excited to get her here in August and am confident she’ll have a smooth transition to college life and softball.”
Lee attends Eagle Nazarene Church and will study nursing at Hesston. She is the daughter of Michelle and Tim Lehrman, Boise, and Les Gargan, Eagle, Idaho.
