The Hesston College women’s basketball team returns seven sophomores from last year’s 15-win squad that advanced to the Region VI semifinals.
Led by all-region honorable mention pick Makayla Ladwig (Wichita, Kan.), the team’s second leading scorer and leading rebounder a year ago, sixth-year coach Dan Harrison will rely on an experienced roster as the Larks navigate an always challenging Region VI schedule.
“The sophomores will be counted on to lead the way and allow the freshmen to make the adjustment to college basketball,” Harrison said. “The freshmen will provide depth and valuable minutes as the season progresses. I like how the team is coming together and hope that positive energy carries us to a fantastic season.”
Hesston plays six NJCAA Division I opponents before Christmas break, gearing the Larks up for a 10-game second semester region slate that features traditional powers Johnson County CC (Overland Park, Kan.) and Highland (Kan.) CC, last year’s Region VI tournament winner.
