The Hesston College volleyball team was named a National Junior College Athletic Association All-Academic Team for the 2011-12 school year.
Hesston had a team grade-point-average for the year of 3.5, which was seventh among all NJCAA teams and second in Region VI (Kansas), behind Pratt Community College’s 3.59. Eastern Arizona College had the highest team GPA in volleyball at 3.61.
“I am very proud of the players’ achievement,” said Coach Jessica Cleveland. “They have worked so hard all year to exceed our team goal GPA of 3.4. Our other completed goal was to be the smartest team on campus without even realizing we could get national recognition. They have done a great job of putting their priorities into their academics. They truly are student athletes.”
“This is certainly a well deserved recognition,” added Athletic Director Joel Kauffman. “Congratulations to Coach Cleveland and her team on this honor.”
To be considered, a team must have a GPA of 3.0 or better.
