Hesston College softball coach Andrew Sharp has announced Erin Albrecht, a pitcher/utility player from Laker (Pigeon,Mich.) High School, as the newest addition to the Hesston program.
Albrecht was a first-team all-conference, all-region and honorable mention all-state performer during her junior year in which she posted a 29-5 record with 301 strikeouts and a 1.28 earned run average. The right-hander also hit .316 for Laker High with 10 doubles and three triples, helping her team to its first district title in 23 years.
A talented student, Albrecht is a Hesston College dean’s scholarship recipient. The head video editor during her senior year at Laker High, Albrecht will begin work toward a broadcasting/cinematic arts degree.
Albrecht is a member of Pigeon River Mennonite Church in Pigeon, Mich., and is active in the youth group there.
“This is a great addition to the Hesston program for so many reasons,” Sharp said. “Erin will inject a tremendous amount of talent on the field and on campus. As a legacy student, I couldn’t be happier that she chose to start at Hesston College. Erin is a big piece of the puzzle for our team, and I look forward to watching her work.”
Albrecht is the daughter of Barry and Cheryl Albrecht, Sebewaing, Mich., both former Hesston College student athletes.
