Standing left to right are Hesston College admissions counselor Dustin Galyon and Coach Kurt Hostetler. Seated are Damaris Hubbell and Steven Arroyo.

Steven Arroyo and Tyler Huneycutt, both seniors at Maize (Kan.) South High School, have signed letters of intent to play soccer at Hesston College.

A pair of athletic center defenders, Arroyo and Huneycutt were key members of the 2010 Maize South team that won the Arkansas Valley Chisholm Trail (AVCTL) Division II regional championship.

Arroyo was named to the AVCTL first-team defense following the 2010 season. Both Arroyo and Huneycutt were voted varsity captains for the 2010-11 year.

“I’m thrilled to have signed two players of this caliber,” Hesston coach Kurt Hostetler said. “Steven and Tyler will be great additions to the campus, on and off the field. They have played side-by-side as center defenders for the past several years, both in club soccer and in high school. Their ability to read each other and work together will no doubt help solidify our defense. Off the field, their personalities and character will fit well with the family like atmosphere of Hesston College.”

Arroyo is the son of Damaris Hubbell. Huneycutt is the son of Kenny Huneycutt and Beverly DeWitt.
