Larks upended by Garden City

Hesston College hosted the #4 ranked Garden City (Kan.) Community College Broncbusters on Thursday, Oct 1, losing 5-0. The Broncbusters speed and offensive scheme was too much for the Larks.

The Larks were led by sophomore forward Alex Steiner (Kidron, Ohio) with a shot on goal and freshman midfielder Logan Waite (Winfield, Kan.) recording the teams only other shot. Lark keeper Reid O’Brien (Hays, Kan.) allowed five goals while saving 11 shots for a save percentage of 68.8%.

“I felt we played with more intensity tonight, but Garden City is a tough team. We were able to defend well for large parts of the game, but their speed and pressure is what hurt us,” said coach Kurt Hostetler. “We worked hard to win the ball, but didn’t do a good job of maintaining possession of it once we got it.”

Hesston travels to Concordia on Saturday, Oct. 4, to take on the Cloud County Community College Thunderbirds. The Larks are hoping for their second win of the season as they head into the final stretch of the schedule.
